BJP chief Amit Shah opened up on the allegations against his son Jay Shah’s business, strongly arguing that “question of corruption does not arise in Jay Shah’s company”. The BJP chief also flayed Congress party and its vice president Rahul Gandhi, alleging the former of been mired in corruptions during its tenure in power.
Earlier this week, the issue had assumed political proportions after a news report filed by the online portal ‘The Wire’, which said Jay Shah’s company saw a huge rise in turnover after the party came to power in 2014.
Speaking at a show organised by TV news channel Aaj Tak, he said “If you have documents to prove your allegations, bring them to court”.
The BJP president also took on Congress party arguing, “Congress has faced so many allegations of corruption, yet did not file a single defamation suit, but Jay has filed one”.
“Why did they not gather the courage to file such cases. Jay has filed a defamation suit. He has sought an inquiry (by approaching the court). Now, you can go to the court with the facts,” Shah said.
Jay Shah has filed Rs 100 crore defamation suit against the top management of online news portal ‘The Wire’ and the reporter of the story.
Soon after the news reports on Jay Shah’s business, Congress had intensified its charge against the government even seeking probe into the matter and Amit Shah’s ouster.
The BJP, on its part, had strongly dismissed any wrong-doing on the part of Jay Shah.
