The Rajya Sabha is slated to hold a short duration discussion on reported scams in public sector banks and the failure of the banking regulators to check them. Harivansh, Roopa Ganguly and RK Sinha will be initiating the discussion in the Upper house.

The issue, which has been on the list of business of the Rajya Sabha since Wednesday last week, has been a non-starter due to on-going protest over the multiple issues by Opposition and BJP allies TDP and AIADMK.

The proceedings in both Houses of Parliament were stalled for the sixth day in a row on Monday as Opposition parties and NDA allies TDP and AIADMK continued protest over various issues including the PNB fraud, special status to Andhra Pradesh and the Cauvery water dispute.

The Aam Aadmi Party too joined the protests in Rajya Sabha, demanding an end to the sealing drive in Delhi.

Continued disruption in the Upper House has drawn anguish of Chairman Venkaiah Naidu at various ocassion. He had raised the issue even at the National Legislators Conference on Sunday underlining that continued protest and disruptions in the house is eroding the legitimacy of the politicians.
