For 7th day in a row protests force adjournment in Lok Sabha

Protest by TDP, AIADMLK and some opposition MPs forced the adjournment of Lok Sabha, seventh day in a row, on Tuesday. Little business has been transacted in the lower house in the second leg of the Budget session due to on-going protest on multiple issues including PNB fraud, Andhra Pradesh special status and Cauvery river dispute.

On Monday too, the lower house was adjourned for the day at noon after short proceedings.

Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley was slated to move The Finance Bill 2018 in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The bill is necessary to give effect to the financial proposals of the Central Government for the financial year 2018-19.

Apart from this, the finance minister was also to move the Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2018 to authorize payment and appropriation of certain sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of India for the services of the financial year 2018-19.

Appropriation (No.3) 2018 Bill to authorise payment and appropriation of certain further sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of India for the services of the financial year 2017-18 was also scheduled to be taken up on Tuesday.

In other business in the Lok Sabha, discussion and voting was scheduled on the demands for grants under control of the ministry of railways for 2018-19. Discussion and voting was also to be held on the demands for grants under control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare for 2018-19.

Discussion and voting on demands for grants under control of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for 2018-19 was also scheduled.
