Two civilians, including a woman, have been killed, and nineteen others have been injured in heavy shelling by Pakistani troops in RS Pura area of Jammu and Kashmir.
In another ceasefire violation in Samba sector, a BSF jawan was killed in firing by the Pakistan side.
In a sharp statement against the firing, the Defence Ministry said that the Indian Forces were giving a befitting reply to the firing from across the border.
“Our forces know what to do. Government is sensitive and our forces are well prepared. They have been giving a befitting reply,” the Minister of State for Defence, Subhash Bhamre said.
Firing was witnessed in the RS Pura sector from across the border for the second consecutive day on Friday. On Thursday, a 17-year-old girl and a BSF jawan were killed in the shooting from across the border.
“Pakistan Rangers resorted to heavy firing and shelling along the IB in several areas in R S Pura, Arnia and Ramgarh sectors since 0640 hours”, a BSF officer said.
Around 40 border outposts and villages in over 35 kms of International Border have been targeted, the officer explained.
All border schools falling upto 4 kilometers from the International Border have been shut and over 1000 border dwellers have migrated from the area.
