A day after the house witnessed a heated debate on the Finance Bill, 2017, the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday faced multiple adjournments.

BSP member Mayawati asked neither the government to explain reasons for nor filling vacancies in backwards class welfare Commissions.

Opposition members including BSP, Congress protested and shouted slogans since the beginning of zero-hour and did not let the house transact business.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi intervened from government’s side and suggested a discussion on vacancies.

House was adjourned and reconvened later to witness the similar situation. Samajwadi Party member Ram Gopal Yadav raised the issue of OBC reservations once again.

House was adjourned till question hour first and then was left adjoined till 2 PM after members trooped into the Well.
