BJP parliamentary board has nominated Information & Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu as their Vice Presidential nominee.
The decision was announced by BJP National President Amit Shah after the meeting. The highest decision making body met at BJP headquarters in Delhi on Monday evening and named the senior party leader from Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu was born on July 1, 1949 in Chavatapalem under Nellore district of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 1998. He was re-elected to the house in 2004, 2010 and 2016. Currently he represents Rajasthan in Rajya Sabha.
The United opposition has already announced their candidate for the Vice Presidential Election and fielded Gopal Krishna Gandhi.
As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the last date for making nominations for the August 5 vice presidential elections is tomorrow (July 18). Counting would also take place on August 5. Incumbent Vice President Hamid Ansari’s term ends on August 10.
The Electoral College for the election consists of 790 MPs of the two chambers of Parliament.
The ruling bloc enjoys an overwhelming majority in the Electoral College and BJP has expressed confidence about garnering anywhere between 500 and 550 votes.
