VP: Indian exporters must explore new markets

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu asked Indian exporters to explore new markets. He also called for a bigger role to be played by India in global trade. The Vice President said this after he gave away FIEO Exports Excellence Awards in Chennai on Thursday.

He also urged exporters to play a bigger role in international trade.

“The exports should pick up faster and maintain a steady growth,” said the Vice President.

He also lauded the ‘Make in India’ initiative to support India’s manufacturing sector.

Support for India’s manufacturing along with a focus on infrastructure growth and multiple initiatives for boosting domestic demand will further strengthen our economy, he explained.

During his speech, the Vice President also called for creating state-of-the-art sea ports, airports and super highways to connect manufacturing centres to ports with best supporting ecosystem.

The Vice President also acknowledged the initial difficulties faced by exporters because of government’s implementation of GST and demonetisation. But he also assured that the government would address their concerns soon.
