Nagaland: Army Major martyred in an encounter with terrorists

At least three suspected terrorists of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) were killed and one Army Jawan lost his life in an encounter with the security forces in Mon district in Nagaland on Wednesday.

Three more jawans have been injured in the encounter as operations are underway.

AR personnel raided Lappa at around 11 PM following information that NSCN(K) cadres were moving through that area and an encounter ensued, the spokesman said.

The encounter continued for several hours.

On Monday, at least four terrorists were killed in Sumbal in  Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir when they tried to attack CRPF camp.

The heavily armed militants tried to enter the camp of 45 Battalion CRPF at Sumbal in Bandipora at around 4:10 AM by opening fire at the sentry post, a police official said.

He said the firing was retaliated by the guards even as police reinforcement was rushed to the scene of gun battle.
