9,000 Tablighi Jamaat members quarantined: Govt

With 328 more people testing positive, the total number of COVID-19 infections has gone up to 1,965 in the country.

Of these patients, epidemiological links of 400 positive cases can be traced to the Tablighi Jamaat cluster, said Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary with the Health Ministry, today.

The Home Ministry has identified 9,000 people of the Tablighi Jamaat across the country. Purnya Salila Srivastav, Joint Secretary with the Home Affairs Ministry, said all of them have been quarantined.

She said of the 9,000, 1,306 people are foreigners and the rest are Indians. 2,000 people are in Delhi of whom 250 are foreigners. In Delhi, around 1,800 people have been quarantined while more than 300 have been hospitalised.

Government has already initiated intensive contact tracing in the matter.
