Terrorists killed two CRPF jawans and two Army officers in an ongoing encounter in Pampore on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Army officer Captain Pawan Kumar and another officer belonging to the 9 Paras, succumbed to injuries in the firing by Militants.
” security forces tried to make their way into the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) building. Captain Pawan Kumar was injured ,“ said an army official.
One civilian has also lost life in the cross fire and 9 others have been injured on Saturday when terrorists attacked a CRPF convoy at Pampore. They later sneaked into the nearby Entrepreneurship Development Institute building, triggering a standoff.
“Nearly 100 civilians, staff and students of EDI were evacuated to safety by the security forces from the building,” a police official said.
Around 5.30 am militants attacked us with grenades. Our assistant commandant and a constable suffered injures. I reckon foreign elements are behind this,” siad Special DG CRPF S K Bhagat.
The father of Captain Pawan Kumar is proud of the sacrifice made by his only child.
“I had only one child and I gave him to the Army, to the nation. No father can be prouder,” Rajbir Singh, the Captain Pawan’s father, was quoted as saying by an Army spokesman.
The 22-year-old officer hails from Jind in Harayana. Captain Pawan had joined the Army only three years ago and had recently taken part in two successful operations where three militants were killed.
“Captain Pawan of 10 Para attained martyrdom leading his men from the front in a tricky deliberate operation against the terrorists hiding in a government building,” said Army Spokes person.
