Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted the progress made by the government’s flagship Ayushman Bharat programme under which 50 lakh beneficiaries have been treated free of cost.
In a twitter message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed it an important milestone in the journey of creating a healthy India that would make every Indian proud.
“It would make every Indian proud that in a year, over 50 lakh citizens have benefited from free of cost treatment thanks to Ayushman Bharat,” he tweeted.
He said that apart from curing, this scheme is empowering several Indians. He described it as an important milestone towards a healthy India. “Apart from curing, this scheme is empowering several Indians,” the prime minister said.
The scheme, launched in September 2018, aims to provide healthcare to 10 crore poor and lower middle income families through a health insurance plan providing a cover of Rs 5 lakh per family.
Government’s ambitious scheme to provide health insurance cover for poor people in the country has touched a key milestone in just over a year.
Till now 50 lakh 34 thousand 922 people have benefited from the scheme. Under the scheme, over 18 thousand hospitals have been linked…10 crore 86 lakh e-cards have been issued till now.
The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Modi on 23rd September 2018 from Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi.
The scheme aims to provide quality healthcare to more than 50 crore poor and vulnerable people across the country.
The scheme gives annual healthcare benefits of up to Rs 5 lakh for every entitled family.
