Union Minister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances Jitendra Singh is slated to move the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, 2013 in the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passage.
The Bill seeks to amend the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and will make corruption a serious offence.
The Bill also seeks to raise the minimum punishment from six months to three years. The maximum term will be raised to seven years instead of the current five-years.
The Select Committee report on the Bill will also be discussed in the House.
