india_parliamentThe Budget Session of 2015-16 commenced from Monday. This is the first union budget which would be presented by PM Narendra Modi led government. All the eyes are on this general budget that is assumed to include various packages for all the sectors, and especially for the ‘aam aadmi’. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will present the budget.

On the first day, President Pranab Mukherjee addressed both the Houses of Parliament in the Central Hall of the Parliament.

President Pranab Mukherjee also sought the “cooperation” of all MPs in the smooth conduct of legislative business but gave no indication of plans to bring changes in the controversial land acquisition ordinance.

Delivering his address to both the Houses of Parliament, he said the government will constantly endeavour for smooth conduct of legislative business and enactment of progressive laws in the Parliament.

Thereafter, Vice President and Chairman of the Upper House read out the the initial and concluding part of the President’s Address in Hindi.

Newly elected members of Rajya Sabha also took the oath/affirmation of allegiance to the Constitution. Leader of the Congress Gulam Nabi Azad also took affirmation of office as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) of the Rajya Sabha.

This budget especially matters a lot for PM Modi himself because after 9 months in power, he will try his best to harvest the people’s expectations as well as the industry by presenting a dream budget.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday reviewed the preparedness of various ministries for the Budget Session of Parliament.

It is expected that this budget will boost Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship schemes, such as Make in India, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Smart Cities plan, among others.

It is all a matter of time when it would be known what the General Budget has in store.
