Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu called an all party meet on Monday to put forth government’s agenda in the budget session.
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, Jyotiraditya Scindia and members from other political parties.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister told the members that government is bringing total of 32 items of business in the budget session
“GST & Real Estate are two key reform bills which we need to pass”, said Venkaiah Naidu.
He also said that government is willing to discuss Rohith Vemula issue and Jat Reservation in the budget session.
The Budget Session of Parliament will commence from February 23 and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will present his government’s third annual budget on February 29.
The Railway budget will be presented on February 25 and the Economic Survey will be tabled the next day on February 26.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has also convened an all-party meeting to discuss the smooth functioning of the house during the Budget Session. The meeting took place amid the possibility of stormy session on Tuesday.
Opposition parties are gearing up to raise various issues like the political crisis in Arunachal Pradesh, Jat agitation, JNU row and the suicide of a Hyderabad University student.
Since it is the first session of 2016, President Pranab Mukherjee will address the joint sitting of the two Houses on the first day.
