In spite of several measures to tackle atrocities against the Dalits, a bad news came from Uttar Pradesh recently where a primary school teacher was arrested on Saturday for allegedly beating up and expelling 11 Dalit students for drinking water from a common earthen pot in a primary school in Nokha area of Bikaner district in the Uttar Pradesh.

The accused teacher Mangal Singh Rajput was posted in a government primary school in Tat village.

“An FIR was lodged on Saturday with Nokha police station following which the accused teacher was arrested,” police said.

In recent days, atrocities against the Dalits make a sudden rise in Uttar Pradesh, which makes Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s government governance model and its regard to basic Dalit issues questionable.
