Trinamool Congress leader in the Rajya Sabha Derek O’ Brien continues his tirade against the Modi government. In an exclusive interview to Rajya Sabha TV, he said that the Opposition is waging a war against the dictatorial Prime Minister of India.

He came down heavily on the November 8 decision of the Centre to demonetise ₹ 500 and ₹ 1000 notes. The TMC leader clarified that the Opposition was not against demonetisation but the way it was being implemented was unleashing pain and suffering for the common man.

Brien even said that the Modi government had no idea that the GDP growth will slump by 43 percentage points as 80 per cent of the economy was run by the informal sector which is suffering the most, because of the ill thought demonitisation move.

Dismissing reports on fissures amongst the Opposition members Brien emphasised that the Opposition was not fighting a battle for 2019 elections. The fight, he said, was for the common man where Trinamool chief Mamta Banerjee will win the perception war against Prime Minister Modi.
