A severe dust storm accompanied by strong winds up to 70 kmph engulfed the national capital on Saturday evening. It was immediately followed by rains, bringing respite from the scorching heat.
The city suddenly plunged into the darkness around 5 pm. It was a hot and humid morning in Delhi and recorded a high of 40.5 degrees Celsius and a low of 30 degrees Celsius, according to the MeT office.
The humidity levels were recorded at 71 per cent.
Earlier in a day, Indian Meteorological Department predicted thunder storm accompanied with light rain and squall with wind speed upto 70 to 80 Kmph.
Yesterday, Five people were killed and six others sustained serious burns in separate incidents of lightning strike in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district.
