The Upper House saw an early adjournment on Friday after disquiet broke out with members of Opposition raising the issue of violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district. With appeals of Deputy Chairperson PJ Kurien unable to break the deadlock, the house was adjourned till noon.
Soon after the Deputy Chairperson read out the Business Advisory Committee’s time allocation of discussion on President’s address and the Union Budget by the Announcement, Samajwadi Party member Ramgopal Yadav took up the issue of Kasganj violence.
Members of Bahujan Samaj Party too joined in demanding discussion over the same. In the meanwhile, Congress MPs took to the Well of the house and raised slogans against the government.
Deputy Chairperson PJ Kurien asked the members that they move the notice first in order to hold any discussion in the house.
“I have got the Zero Hour notice of 15 members… I want to allow that but if these members are shouting slogans I have to adjourn the house. I have no other way…,” Kurien said.
The Deputy Chairperson was particularly angry with a Congress MP who took protest holding a banner. “I think we have to take action against this… No placard or banner is allowed in the house,” he said.
