An FIR was registered against the BJP leader for allegedly promising to give away laptops, colour TVs and dhoti-saris to voters at an election rally in the state.
Sushil Modi has contested the FIR and has urged the Election Commission to look into the matter.
“I had said to provide laptops to 50,000 boys and girls if our government is formed in Bihar along with colour TVs and dhoti-saris. It was meant to spell the vision of the party for the citizens and there is nothing wrong in it,” Sushil Modi told reporters in Patna.
“Every party spells what it intends to do after the election. So whats wrong in it?” a defiant Modi said.
Superintendent of Police of Kaimur district Harpreet Kaur told PTI that an FIR was lodged at the Bhabua Police Station against Sushil Kumar Modi for inducing voters by promising colour TVs, laptops and dhoti-saris.
Sushil Modi made these promises on Monday during an address at an election meeting where he urged voters to vote in favour of BJP candidate Anand Bhusan Pandey.
SP Kaur said that the case was registered on the basis of video footage of the meeting.
