Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said there is a direct linkage between education and employment and asked students to acquire knowledge and skill to take up new opportunities. Addressing a convocation ceremony of the Kurukshetra University on Thursday he also advised students to contribute to the nation.
“Education is not just for Employment and it is also for enhancement of knowledge and enlightenment,” the Vice President said.
Saying there is a direct correlation between the education and business, the Vice President urged students to acquire knowledge and research in the direction to make India an economic power. “We need more and more well trained and knowledgeable human resource, especially at the highest level, to achieve the targets of economic development,” he said.
The Vice President also stressed that every student must be disciplined and have an outlook for the development of the country. The Governor of Haryana, Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, Education minister in Haryana government Ram Bilas Sharma were among those present at the event.
“A well developed and organised education structure will also help in the success of government initiatives like Make in India, Skill India, Start-Up India, Stand-Up India requires in a long run,” VP Naidu said.
Vice President Naidu especially appreciated the government of Haryana for giving priority to sports and complimented all the winners who have earned medals in recently held commonwealth games.
The Vice President, however, also emphasised that democracy allows meaningful debates on all pertaining problems and only constructive debate can provide answers. He further said that protest should be peaceful and no one has the right to destruct public property. Violence cannot be a solution, he added.
More than 1500 students and scholars were awarded degrees across the streams in the convocation ceremony.
