The Government today launched a mobile app ‘Aarogya Setu’ that allows people to assess the risk of catching the novel Coronavirus infection.
The app calculates the probability of being infected by the COVID-19 virus, based on a person’s interaction with other people.
It uses cutting edge Bluetooth technology, algorithms and artificial intelligence said, Neeta Verma, director-general of the National Informatics Centre.
“The app will also help the Government take timely steps by assessing the risk of the spread of the COVID-19 infection, and ensuring isolation where required.”
Moreover, according to the NIC Director-General, the app will ensure the privacy of users, by encrypting personal data using state-of-the-art technology. The data will stay secure in the phone till it is needed to facilitate medical intervention, she said.
Available in 11 languages, the app can be downloaded from Google play store or Apple play store.
