On Thursday night, a four-year-old girl was killed and five others were injured including Hema Malini when her Mercedes rammed into another car on the Agra-Jaipur National Highway-11 near Dausa in Rajasthan.
Hema Malini, who suffered injuries on her face, is undergoing treatment at Fortis hospital in Jaipur.
An FIR against the driver has been lodged at the Kotwali police station under various sections of IPC including 279 for rash driving and 304 (A) for causing death by negligence, said Dilip Singh, the SHO of the police station.
Ramesh Chand, the driver will be interrogated soon and a probe is on, Singh told PTI.
“It is to be ascertained how the accident occurred and who was at fault,” he added.
BJP MP from Mathura Hema Malini and her personal assistant were in the Mercedes when the crash happened. The Mercedes crashed into another car in which five people were travelling – two children, two women and complainant Hanuman Mahajan.
Sonam, the four-year-old daughter of Hanuman, succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital in Dausa after the crash. Other family members of Hanuman have been shifted to the Sawai Man Singh hospital in Jaipur and are being treated there, the SHO said. Two of them are said to be seriously injured.
Hema Malini was rushed to Jaipur after the accident.
She “suffered a cut near an eyebrow, some problem in nasal bone, injury on forehead and had body ache,” said Rajasthan Minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, who visited her late on Thursday night.
66-year-old Malini also went through CT scans and other tests. Plastic surgeons examined her face and wounds. A number of other specialists including Anoop Jhurani, bone replacement expert, also attended to the actress, a senior doctor of the hospital said.
The actress was heading to Jaipur from Mathura when the mishap occurred at around 9pm on Thursday night.
Locals staged a protest after the accident and tried to block the highway, but they were dispersed by police.
