Amid rising tension in Indo-Pak ties, Union Minister Rajnath Singh will assess security arrangements on the border in Barmer district of Rajasthan on Saturday.
Rajnath Singh who is on a two day visit Rajasthan to review the security situation along the border has reached Barmer from Jaisalmer, accompanied by Border Security Force (BSF) officials.
The Home Minister chaired a meeting in Jaisalmer with the home ministers and senior officials of four states that border Pakistan. During the meeting Home Minister has asked Chief Ministers to co operate with officers of Border Security Forces and look into the complaints filed by them at local police stations.
“We must work together to secure our border. Register and investigate cases of suspects,” Said Home Minister.
Home Minister also instructed officials of Border Security Force officials to fast track construction of the border fence so that government can seal the border by 2018.
“We will seal Ido Pak border by 2018,” Singh said in an interaction with media in Jaisalmer.
The meeting was attended by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal, Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Brij Raj Sharma.
The security arrangements are being reviewed on the border in the wake of tension between India and Pakistan after surgical strike by army on terror camps across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir
