The Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu held delegation-level talks with the President of the Union of Comoros, Azali Assoumani at the Presidential palace in Moroni. He reasserted India’s cooperation and friendship said India would continue to enhance its ties with the island nation.
Both leaders witnessed signing of few important MoUs in the area of defence cooperation to strengthen defence cooperation and help in maritime security was also signed after the high-level talks. Another MoU on cooperation in the field of health and medicines with Comoros was also signed among others.
Addressing media both the leaders have reiterated their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation on matters of importance such as climate change, terrorism and others

On the first leg of his two-nation Africa Visit, the Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu reached the Comoros on Thursday. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation including Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries, Ramvichar Netam, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and senior officers of the Government of India.
