On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the BRICS leaders’ meet on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Hamburg in Germany.
Speaking about terrorism, PM Modi called the international response to terrorism weak. He also equated Pakistan-based LeT & JeM to ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
Their names may be different but ideology is the same, said Modi.
In a veiled reference to Pakistan, Modi referred to some nations, who were using terrorism for achieving political goals.
Climate change was also discussed and PM Modi said that it was “mandatory” to implement the consensus of the Paris agreement on climate change. PM Modi’s statement comes just weeks after the US decided to pull out of the landmark deal and alleged that it favoured India and China.
“It is mandatory to implement the consensus reached at the Paris agreement. India will implement the agreement in letter and spirit,” Modi said.
“We have to ensure that international financial organisations fully reflect the world’s current economic balances,” he added.
Modi also called for the early establishment of BRICS rating agency.
