LeT planning attacks in the capital, says Delhi police

Delhi-police-2According to the Delhi police, terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is planning to carry out suicide attacks in Delhi which could target “high profile personalities”. The police is said to be searching for two suspected LeT operatives who have allegedly hatched this conspiracy.

Sources say that the conspiracy was unearthed when the Special Cell of Delhi Police received an intelligence input that said that two suspected LeT operatives, identified as Dujana and Ukasha are planning the attacks. It is suspected that the terrorists infiltrated into Jammu and Kashmir through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

“Two of them, identified as Dujana and Ukasha, have been reported to be based in the Kashmir Valley for quite long and are allegedly conspiring to target high profile personalities in Delhi by carrying out ‘fidayeen’ (suicide attacks) or grenade attacks either themselves or through their cadres,” a police source told PTI.

The cadres are believed to be using code names like Noman, Zaid and Khursheed. They are also suspected to be targeting particularly crowded areas in the city, said the source.

Following the intelligence input, an FIR was registered by the Delhi police on December 1 at the Special Cell office in Delhi under Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and other relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The FIR which doesn’t name any suspects, was submitted at the concerned anti-terror court, said sources.

The complaint also says that LeT was conspiring attacks in Delhi and other places in India.

The Delhi police has stepped up its vigil and the Special Cell has is undertaking all measures to track down the threat.

A similar FIR was also filed in July this year, where the Special Cell filed an FIR against unknown persons suspected to be associated with the ISIS, who were allegedly conspiring terror attacks in Delhi and other cities.
