New Delhi, May 8 (PTI): Delhi’s Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung today directed Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to explore the possibility of providing free water tankers to Dwarka for at least next three months to tide over the water problem.
In reply to Jung’s order, DDA said that it will review the situation and assured the LT Governor that by May 20 water from eight additional tube-wells shall be made available for Dwarka area.
Jung also directed DDA to speed up the work on these tube-wells so that additional water is immediately made available to the residents of Dwarka. Jung had earlier directed the DDA to supplement water supply to Dwarka.
Jung held a meeting with the Vice Chairman-DDA, Engineer Member-DDA, CEO-DJB, Member (Water) DJB, Deputy Commissioner (Revenue)-South West, Tehsildar Dwarka and SDM Dwarka. LG took another meeting with chief secretary and CEO of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and heads of all Discoms and Power secretary regarding power and water issues, which is a follow up meeting to the one taken by him on April 23.
DJB CEO informed that DJB had set up several control rooms to address queries of the citizens of Delhi and three call centres along with 24 local water emergencies have been made operational.
In order to check whether these control rooms are working properly or not, a decoy call was made from the meeting room in Raj Niwas and Jung was satisfied with the response.
Jung also instructed the power secretary that there must not be any power outages in DJB water treatment plants and that the DJB operations must run smoothly.
