In Maharashtra, a five-storey building in Kajalpuri locality of Mahad in Raigad district collapsed on Monday evening.

Rescuers sifting through the rubble of a five-storeyed building in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on Tuesday found a four-year-old boy alive and his mother dead beneath the debris, police said.

Death toll in the collapse reached 10 with the recovery of nine bodies from the rubble on Tuesday, police said.

President Ram Nath Kovind has expressed grief at the loss of life due to the building collapse at Mahad, Raigad in Maharashtra. In a tweet, the President said his thoughts and prayers are with the affected and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu also expressed pain at the building collapse in Raigad, Maharashtra. In a tweet, the Vice President offered condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi too expressed sadness at the building collapse in Mahad, Raigad in Maharashtra.

In a tweet, PM Modi said his thoughts are with the families of those who lost their dear ones. He said local authorities and NDRF teams are at the site of the tragedy to provide all possible assistance. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Home Minister Amit Shah also called the incident tragic. He spoke to the Director General of National Disaster Response Force, and asked him to provide all possible assistance. In a tweet, he said, the teams are on the way and will be assisting with the rescue operations as soon as possible. He prayed for everyone’s safety.
