West Bengal Assembly Elections- 2016

Releasing the party manifesto for the upcoming assembly polls in Kolkata, TMC supremo & West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she will build a ‘New Bengal’ if she is voted to power again in 2016.

While releasing TMC manifesto for 2016 polls, Mamata said she had fulfilled all the promises made to the people in 2011 and the process of development momentum will continue.

“In 2011 we had a manifesto, we have done thousands of time more than what we had promised,” Banerjee said.

She said Kanyashree (scholarship for girl students), Sobuj Sathi (free bicycles to school going students) have been implemented by her government and have shown good social impact.

TMC manifesto contains chapters on industry, health education, minority development along with sections focusing on regions like jangalmahal (forested part of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia) and the Hills.

When asked about her poll strategy, Banerjee said along with development work she will continue to highlight the unholy alliance of the Left and Congress.

“The 2016 Assembly poll is also going to bring to the fore their alliance built on unethical compromises. It is a doomed attempt at finding a political identity through corrupt and bankrupt ideologies,” the TMC manifesto said.

“We have done so much work, it has not been possible to accommodate all in one book. We have outlined our vision for the future. We will work for the people of all caste, creed, religion,” Banerjee said.

She said, “to reach the vision of a Bengal that leads in industrialisation, we have a long way to go. We have never backed down from challenges and never will, and will ensure that the welfare of the people remains our prime focus.”

Banerjee enumerated some of the future plans to that end and added, “The list will undoubtedly keep getting longer.”
