Targeting India’s biggest electoral state, Uttar Pradesh that gave BJP 73 seats in Lok Sabha polls BJP is launching a series of programmes to highlight the achievements of Modi government, starting today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a public rally in Saharanpur on Thursday stressing his government’s contributions to the state that is heading for Assembly polls in a year.
“Prime Minister’s programme had to be started from some place or the other. Party leadership decided on Saharanpur. It is well known that elections are there and it’s a poll bound state,” said a party spokesperson.
Top cabinet ministers and party leaders of BJP will hold various programmes across the country from May 27 to June 15. Prime Minister will be in Shillong on May 27 while Party chief Amit Shah will interact with media in New Delhi. Rajnath Singh in Delhi, Sushma Swaraj and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in Jaipur, Arun Jaitley in Lucknow, Venkaiah Naidu in Bangalore and Manohar Parrikar in Chennai
“With Prime Minister’s event, programmes to highlight the achievement of government which completes two years tomorrow will begin. Prime Minister will address a programme on May 26 at Saharanpur,” Said BJP national general secretary Anil Jain.
Staring May 27, BJP Ministers and Parliament Members will cover 198 cities while 33 teams have been formed with Cabinet ministers, Minister of States and party leaders to visit states.
The others include Suresh Prabhu in Kolkata, Sadananda Gowda in Nagpur, Uma Bharti in Haldwani, Ram Vilas Paswan in Amritsar, Ravi Shankar Prasad in Mumbai, J P Nadda in Varanasi, Chhattissgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh in Telangana, Ananth Geete in Goa, Narendra Singh Tomar in Ranchi and others.
As per the available information, maximum cities have been included in UP and 200 nerve centres across the country have been picked where leaders will go and tell about the achievements and schemes of the government. An overnight stay in specific areas is also on the agenda.
“Every MP has been urged to stay one night in their areas and take these programme (to tell about two years achievement) to the grassroot level,” said a party functionary.
BJP is also hosting its National Executive in Allahabad from June 12-13, believed to decide poll strategy for Uttar Pradesh.
