The Southwest Monsoon hit Kerala on Tuesday, three days ahead of its scheduled arrival, said IMD. The weather department on Monday had said that Monsoon would hit Kerala in the next 24 hours.

Earlier, Skymet – a private weather forecaster – had announced the arrival of monsoon on Monday. “There are Monsoon-like conditions over Kerala and we can say that the annual rainfall season has arrived,” Skymet CEO Jatin Singh had told the news agency.

The arrival of monsoon also sets in course the rainy season across the country.

The arrival of monsoon is keenly awaited not just by the farmers and agriculturalists but also by the policy makers in New Delhi which study the gauges to foresee its impact on the economy.
