Wrestler Narsingh Yadav is all set to participate in Rio Olympics after getting clearance from the national anti-doping panel. However, it is unknown whether he would be able to participate in the Rio Olympics, starting from Friday.
Nada panel is of the opinion that Narsingh was a victim of sabotage and one time ingestion by Yadav was not within his knowledge.
“Narsingh is a victim of sabotage. His two positive tests were the result of sabotage. NADA panel exonerates Narsingh Yadav from doping charges,” said Navin Agarwal, Director General of NADA
Yadav thanked everyone including PM Modi and Wrestling Federation of India for support.
“I thank Prime Minister for the speedy resolution of the matter. I thank everyone for the support,” said Narsingh
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who is the chief of WFI said that Narsingh Yadav will go to Rio.
“NADA gave him clean chit. He will go to Rio,” said Singh.
Narsingh, who failed two dope tests ahead of Rio games, had filed an FIR against a junior wrestler for allegedly mixing supplements to his food.
Narsingh’s chances of competing in the Olympics faded last week after the wrestler failed a second dope test which was conducted on July 5.
According to Narsingh, the junior wrestler allegedly entered his room and mixed banned supplements in the food. The alleged infiltrator is identified as a 65 kg wrestler who represented India in junior ranks.
Narsingh fought a lengthy legal battle to get to the list of probables of Rio. He was selected ahead of two-time Olympic champion Sushil Kumar.
Earlier in the day, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who is the chief of WFI backed Narsingh and said he is innocent.
“Narsingh is innocent. Injustice has happened with him and we are hopeful he will get justice,” said the Chief of WFI
On Wednesday WFI sent Praveen Rana’s name as replacement for Narsingh as a measure to fill his place at Rio.
