Good research essential for creative scholarship: VP

Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu said that children must proficiently learn one language that should help them lay the foundation for future.

“Children must learn at least one language proficiently during their schooling stage which makes foundations for further learning,” he said.

He was Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony of and to International Conference on the Journey of Indian Languages, Perspectives on Culture and Society in Ahmedabad.

Vice President congratulated two of India’s prominent Open Universities, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University & IGNOU for jointly organizing this event.

“I congratulate BAOU and IGNOU for organizing such an important conference and I wish all the very best for the fruitful deliberations,” he said in his initial remarks.

Addressing the meet he said that India needs good researchers that would aim to cement & enhance the tradition of excellent critical, historical, theoretical & creative scholarship.

“Our societies have been built on the recognition of the fact that language is the lifeblood of a culture and building block of civilization,” he said.

Describing the importance of language in knowledge sharing, Naidu said that language is the soul of a society and it binds thread of human existence.

“Language has been a vehicle for communication of thoughts, feelings, and ideas,” VP said.

Vice President arrived in Ahmadabad on Saturday morning and was received by Home Minister of Gujarat, Pradeep Singh Jadeja & Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasamaji. He later inspected the Guard-of-Honour.
