Just days after CBI conducted raids on Lalu and his family members in connection with land-for-hotels scam, the heat is on Lalu’s son and Deputy Bihar Chief Minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav, to resign. Tejashwi Prasad’s name appeared in the CBI FIR in the land-for-hotel case.
On Monday, RJD said, “there was no question” of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s resignation.
“There is no question of his resignation,” RJD legislator Mundrika Prasad Yadav told PTI.
RJD’s statement after top party leaders met at the Legislative party meeting in Patna on Monday. Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, his minister brother Tej Pratap Yadav were present in the meeting along with legislators and other senior leaders of the party.
Interestingly ally JD(U), which leads the ruling Grand Alliance in Bihar, had refused to comment on the raids so far.
But, on Monday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is said to have spoken to Lalu on the phone about the ongoing crisis. The CM has called of all JD(U) lawmakers and legislators on Tuesday to discuss the situation.
Senior RJD leader Jagdanand Singh informed reporters that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had called up Lalu. Details of the conversation were not revealed by Singh.
On Friday, CBI had conducted raids in four cities in connection with a corruption case, in which the RJD chief, his wife Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi are among the accused. Since then, the BJP and its NDA partners have been demanding Tejashwi’s resignation over the issue.
