No research on developing a vaccine for COVID 19 has so far reached human trial stage anywhere in the world.
Dr Raman Gangakhedkar, senior scientist with the Indian Council for medical research, stated this at a media briefing on the novel Coronavirus outbreak in New Delhi on Saturday.
Dr Gangakhedkar however said there was a “reduction in the viral load among COVID-19 patients who were given Hydroxychloroquine drug.”
Lav Aggarwal, Joint secretary with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said that Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries, suffering from chronic diseases, could be issued or indented medicines for three months at a time without having to visit the wellness centre.
He also stated that the Ministry is training doctors across the country in assistance with AIIMS, Delhi in managing COVID-19 patients.
Novel Coronavirus cases on Saturday crossed 850 across the country. Two more deaths were reported since Friday taking the total number of deaths to 19.
