As per media reports firing are still going on in that sector and Indian forces are responding to the firing from the other side of the border.

The violation comes a day after an Indian Army officer from Kashmir has been killed while he was off duty in a private function.

Earlier, on Wednesday morning, 22-year-old Kashmiri Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz was found in Harmen area of Shopian in South Kashmir, an Indian Express report said. As per it, the armyman was abducted from Batpura village where he had gone to attend his cousin’s wedding.

“Abduction & murder of Lt. Ummer Fayaz by terrorists in Shopian is a dastardly act of cowardice. This young officer from J&K was a role model,” Defence Minister Jaitley said in a tweet.

“I assure the family that the perpetrators of this heinous crime and dastardly act will not be spared,” said Lt Gen Abhay Krishna, General Officer Commanding-in Chief of South Western Command and Colonel of Rajputana Riffles, was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

Fayaz was from Kulgam district in Kashmir. He was commissioned into the Army last year and was a part of the Rajputana Rifles.
