PM Modi bats for historic change at NITI Aayog Governing Council meet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Sunday, delivered the opening remarks at the 4th meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog at Rashtrapati Bhawan. PM welcomed the chief ministers and other delegates and reiterated that Governing council can bring “historic change”.

Governing Council of NITI Aayog is the premier body tasked with evolving a shared vision of national development priorities, sectors and strategies with the active involvement of States in shaping the development narrative.

PM assured the chief ministers from flood-affected states that the centre will provide them all the necessary aid required to deal with the deluge situation.

“The Governing Council has approached complex issues of governance as “Team India”, in the spirit of cooperative, competitive federalism. He described the smooth rollout and implementation of GST as a prime example of this”, PM tweeted.

PM Modi underlined the economic growth of 7.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2017-18. He said that this indicates the healthy growth for Indian Economy and now measures are taken to take this growth rate to double digits.

PM Modi mentioned the issues on the agenda of the meet, which includes doubling the farmers income, development of aspirational districts, Ayushman Bharat, Mission Indradhanush, Nutrition Mission and celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

PM highlighted that the centre has adopted a comprehensive approach and strategies  for education, under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Also,  “1.5 lakh Health and Wellness Centres are being constructed under Ayushman Bharat. He said about 10 crore families will be provided health assurance worth Rs. 5 lakhs every year”, PM tweeted.

PM stated that financial stability and tackling economic imbalances are on the top of the priority list. The schemes such as Mudra Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana and Stand Up India, aims at graeter financial inclusion.

He further added that there is no dearth of capacities, capabilities and resources in India. “The gathering today represents the hopes and aspirations of the people of India. He said it is also the responsibility of this gathering to make all efforts to fulfil them”, PM tweeted.
