PM Modi meets Xi Jinping, Putin & Ramphoa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had a very productive meet on the sidelines of BRICS Summit 2018.

India, China agrees to maintain border tranquillity as PM Modi, Xi Jinping meet in Johannesberg. Modi’s bilateral meeting with Russian President Putin goes on till midnight. Prime Minister Modi also holds talks with leaders of Angola, Argentina on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.

During the meet, Prime Minister Modi emphasised the need to maintain the “momentum” generated by their recent meetings and provide “proper instructions” to their militaries to maintain peace at the border.

Chinese President Xi Jinping added onto that China is willing to consolidate and develop a closer development partnership with India.

Prime Minister Modi also said the meeting has provided another opportunity to both nations to strengthen their closer developmental partnership.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his willingness to send National Security Adviser Ajit Doval to China this year for the Special Representative-level boundary talks.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held bilateral talks with President Vladimir Putin in Johannesburg, and said the friendship between India and Russia is deep-rooted.

The two leaders had a comprehensive discussion on bilateral issues of mutual interest, especially in trade, investment, energy, defence and tourism.

Prime Minister Modi met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and discussed ways to expand the bilateral ties in a number of sectors, including trade and investment, IT and defence.

Following the delegation-level talks between Modi and Ramaphosa, three MoUs were signed on cooperation in exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes…setting up of Gandhi-Mandela Centre of specialisation for artisan skills and agricultural research and education.

Prime Minister Modi also held bilateral meetings with presidents of Argentina and Angola on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit .

President of Angola and Prime Minister Modi discussed intensifying relations in trade and investment, agriculture & food processing, pharma, oil and natural gas.

Prime Minister Modi to take part in BRICS Africa Outreach session today.

Prime Minister Modi will participate in the outreach with leaders from Africa and outreach with leaders from global south segments of the summitCountries invited for the BRICS’ Africa outreach segment are Rwanda, Uganda, Togo, Zambia, Namibia, Senegal, Gabon, Ethiopia, Angola and the African Union chair. Countries invited for the BRICS outreach with leaders from the global south segment are Argentina, Turkey, Indonesia, Jamaica and Egypt.
