PM Modi visits Varanasi, praises UP Govt for development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi, complimented Uttar Pradesh government for the development work being carried out by them.

The Prime Minister also criticised the previous governments in UP. “Development is solution to all our problems, previous governments seemed to hate development and used public money to win elections,” he said. The Prime Minister inaugurated a slew of projects in the city worth crores. 

“We not only launch but also complete projects,” he addded.

PM Modi arrived in Varanasi on Friday afternoon. He is there to inaugurate several projects across all sectors.

He flagged off the Mahamana Express train which will connect Varanasi with Surat and Vadodara in Gujarat.

While the prime minister inaugurated the first run of the train remotely from Varanasi, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal joined him via video link from Vadodara along with senior officials of the ministry.

Modi had won from both Varanasi and Vadodara in the 2014 elections, but chose to represent Varanasi in Parliament.

PM Modi also dedicate Deendayal Hastkala Sankul, a trade facilitation centre for handicrafts to the nation.

On Saturday, the prime minister will address a public rally in Varanasi. He will also will briefly participate in a sanitation-related activity in a village of Shahanshahpur.

He will distribute certificates to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural & Urban) and address a gathering on the occasion and distribute loan waiver certificates to some farmers, whose loans have been waived by the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government.
