President, Vice President and PM Modi pay tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 115th anniversary

The nation is remembering Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary today.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Vijay Ghat, the samadhi of Shastriji in the national capital and offered floral tributes on his 115th birth anniversary.

PM Modi on Wednesday recalled the grit and determination of Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 115th birth anniversary.

“Tributes to former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri who gave the call of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’,” PM Modi tweeted.

He also posted a short video on the leader in which he referred to Shastri’s grit and determination and his love for khadi.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was born in 1904 in Uttar Pradesh’s Mughalsarai.

Under Shastri’s leadership, India won the 1965 war against Pakistan. He gave the nation the powerful slogan of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan to enthuse soldiers and farmers.
