Cabinet Committee on Security meet in New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to discuss the security scenario in the wake of the surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control.

The meeting comes after Indian posts at Baramulla witnessed attacks from terrorists and multiple cease fire violations by the Pakistani side several times in the last three days.

Prime Minister was briefed about the situation on the LoC and the International Border as well as the hinterland by home minister Rajnath singh. Home Minister also briefed the PM on the situation in Kashmir as the unrest in the Kashmir valley enters its 89th day.

Apart from the Home Minister, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Minister of State for the Prime Minister Office Jitendra Singh and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India Nitin Gadkari were present for the meeting.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased after the surgical strikes carried out on the intervening night of September 28 and 29 on terror launch pads across the LoC. Pakistan has intensified cross-LoC firing and shelling since the surgical strikes.
