President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday accepted the resignations of Telugu Desam Party MPs Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pasupati and YS Chowdary from the Union council of ministers. The two had met with Prime Ministers Narendra Modi on Thursday evening to officially hand over their resignations.
The TDP had decided to pull out their ministers from the Centre last night over the issue of special status for Andhra Pradesh. The party will, however, continue in the NDA fold from outside.
While Raju was heading the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Chowdary was Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences.
“…the president has directed that the work of the Ministry of Civil Aviation will be looked after by the prime minister,” the spokesman said.
Prime Minister Modi will now look after the Civil Aviation ministry as well, as per the reports.
The Telagu Desam Party (TDP) has been agitating in both the houses of Parliament over the issue of financial aid to the state, which was promised at the time of its bifurcation in 2014.
