President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President M. Hamid Ansari greeted fellow countrymen on the eve of Vijayadashami.

President who is now in his ancestral home in Kolkatta has sent message and wished people of prosperity and wellness.

“On the joyous occasion of Dussehra, I extend greetings and best wishes to my fellow countrymen in India and abroad. May this festival inspire us to emulate the righteousness of the Maryada Purush, the loyalty of his brothers Bharath and Lakshmana, the virtues of Sita and the valour as well as humility of Hanuman,” said the President.

President asked the countrymen to help each other in to resolve to follow the path of moral and ethical rectitude which has guided us for centuries.

“May the celebrations bind the communities and regions of India in a true sense of brotherhood and motivate us to make renewed efforts for the unity and progress of our country” the message said.

Vice President, Hamid Ansari too greeted the people on Dussehra. In a message, he said that Dussehra marks the victory of the forces of good over evil and fills the people with the spirit of brotherhood and amity.

“I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra,” the message said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is scheduled to visit Lucknow on Tuesday evening to take part in Dussehra celebrations at Ramleela ground wished the nation on social media.

“Vijaya Dashmi greetings to you all. विजयादशमी के पावन पर्व पर आप सभी को शुभकामनाएं,” said Prime Minster.
