President, Vice President & PM Modi greet people on Baisakhi, Vishu & Bahag Bihu

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted people on Baisakhi, Vishu, Puthandu, Masadi, Vaishkhadi and Bahag Bihu, saying as the nation passes through testing times, festivals like these rejuvenate spirits and lend guidance and direction.

These festivals, mostly associated with harvesting, are being celebrated on Monday and Tuesday.

Farmers should always be at the centre of our gratitude as they bring us food security and prosperity through their tireless efforts, President Ram Nath Kovind said on Monday.

Extending good wishes on the occasion of Vaisakhi, Vishu, Rongali Bihu, Naba Barsha, Vaisakhadi, Puthandu and Pirappu, Kovind said these festivals are a symbol of unity inherent in the cultural diversity of India and also an occasion to celebrate farmers.

“Our farmers should always be at the centre of our gratitude as they not only produce food grains for us but also bring us food security and prosperity through their tireless efforts,” the President said.

President Ram Nath Kovind also asked people to reiterate their collective resolve to defeat coronavirus while following social distancing norms.

“We are currently in the midst of an unprecedented challenge posed by COVID-19. Let us, this year, observe these festivals and reiterate our combined and collective resolve to defeat coronavirus while following social distancing norms and due caution,” the President was quoted as saying in a statement issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu wished the people on the occasion of Vaisakhi, Vishu, Puthandu, Masadi, Vaishkhadi and Bahag Bihu which are being celebrated in different parts of the country on 13th and 14th April, 2020.

In a message, the Vice President said that as nation passes through the testing times, festivals like these rejuvenate our spirits and lend us guidance and direction.

In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister greeted people on Odia new year and Maha Bishuba Pana Sankranti.

“Happy #OdiaNewYear and Maha Bishuba Pana Sankranti. May the coming year bring happiness and good health in everyone’s lives,” he said.

On Baisakhi, PM Modi said the festival associated with new aspirations should infuse new energy and new enthusiasm in everyone’s life.
