Congress party vice president Rahul Gandhi has asked the incumbent BJP-led NDA government to probe the allegations questioning his nationality. Mr. Gandhi was retorting to the allegations raised by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy that he had claimed himself to be a British national in the documents submitted before the company law authorities in the UK for setting up a company.

Though, Rahul Gandhi didn’t directly refer to Swamy but accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “throwing mud” on him through his “cronies”.

Addressing a Youth Congress gathering in New Delhi on the occasion of the 98th birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi even dared the central government to “jail” him if he is guilty.

“Modi ji, it is your government. You have the agencies. Get a probe done against me and send me behind bars if you find something. Stop all this–the mud that you throw at me and my family through your cronies. You are not in opposition, you are in government now,” he said.

Gandhi further set the cheers amidst the youth Congress activists as he said he is “not going to be scared by such things and will continue to fight against BJP.”

Rahul-Gandhi-n-Sonia-GandhiSharpening his attack further, Rahul once again targeted the RSS, along with the ruling BJP saying, “ever since I was a child, I have been watching people from RSS and BJP throwing mud at my grand mother, my father and even my mother…. Different kinds of allegations are levelled against me. There is not even an iota of truth in them.”

In his allegations, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has claimed that on the basis of documents in his possession, the Congress party vice president had listed himself to be a British national before the company law authorities in the UK for setting up a company.

Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s rebuttal, Subramanian Swamy has now demanded a CBI or ED probe alleging that there is a possibility that a “shell company” with Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi as Company Secretary and Director may have been formed in Britain.

“While I do not have complete picture, the material enclosed are of sufficient prima facie value to order an investigation by the CBI/Enforcement Directorate with Mr Rahul Gandhi as the principal accused,” Swami said in a letter to PM Modi.

Earlier writing to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Swamy demanded that Gandhi be stripped of Indian citizenship and Lok Sabha membership.
