Speaking at the event aimed at unveiling the statute of Dr Srinivasan in Narayana College in Kollam, Vice President Hamid Ansari said that providing education is the best way of serving people.
He was addressing the event after unveiling the statue of Dr. M. Sreenivasan in Kollam, Kerala on Monday which was attended by the Governor of Kerala, Justice (Retd.) P. Sathasivam and the Minister for Forests, Animal Husbandry and Zoos, Kerala K. Raju.
Addressing gathering, Vice President said that Dr Sreenivasan personified in his dedication to the betterment of others through education.
“I venture to say, there is no better way of serving people than providing education,” said the Vice President.
Ansari also said that Sreenivasans contributions changed life’s of generations of students passed out from Narayana institutions.
“Generations of students who have passed from this college, under Dr. Sreenivasan’s tutelage, remember him with great affection and continue to spread his message of social reform through education throughout India and beyond,” said VP Ansari who is also the Chairman of Rajya Sabha.
Remembering Mahatma Gandhi at the occasion, Ansari said that serving people facing economic crisis and social plight is the way forward to bring change in society.
“Mahatma Gandhi said the best way to find you is to lose yourself in the service of others. Dr. Sreenivasan believed in this. He inspired students to take up studies into social and economic challenges facing in the country,” said the Vice President.
Vice President reached the Trivandrum Airport on Monday afternoon and was received by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan along with Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha PJ Kurien.
On Day two of his visit, Ansari is scheduled to inaugurate the Navathi celebrations of Navajyothi Karunakara Guru at the Santhigiri Ashram. In another function to be held at the Kanakakkunnu Palace, he will formally open the digital library of the P N Panicker Foundation
The digital library is launched as part of the Foundation’s drive for complete e-literacy. On Wednesday morning, the Vice President will inaugurate the Vidhyadhanam Scheme of the St. Teresa College in Ernakulam, following which he will then return to Delhi
