In what seems to be a response to the questions cropping up over his whereabouts, Congress party vice president Rahul Gandhi shared a photograph online of his attending an international affairs conference in US. The BJP had earlier last week sought to know from the Congress party their leader’s whereabouts coupled with a query that why Rahul Gandhi has chosen to take a foreign trip at the time of crucial Bihar polls.
While the Congress party tried to settle the affair saying that Mr. Gandhi had gone to participate in a popular ‘Weekend with Charlie Rose’ conference at Aspen Institute in US, a section of BJP attempted to dub it “false” claiming that the said conference has already been held in July.
However, to put the speculation to the rest, early on Monday, Rahul Gandhi shared his picture at the ‘Weekend with Charlie Rose’ conference on the micro-blogging site Twitter.
“Very interesting discussions on the global economy & the disruptive power of tech at the conference in Aspen,” the Congress vice president tweeted on his official Twitter handle — @OfficeOfRG.
The popular conference on International affairs in the mountain state of Colorado is known for its long list of participants where eminent personalities from different walks of life like politics, finance, technology, media, medicine, sports gather to deliberate on multiple issues.
Adding to the photo stream, Congress leader and former MP from South Mumbai Milind Deora also shared two photographs on his Twitter handle — @milinddeora.
“Snapshots from a new media & international affairs conf in CO, USA with @OfficeOfRG, Iceland’s President & @DMiliband,” tweeted Mr. Deora sharing two photographs, one of himself and Rahul with Iceland’s President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson and second one of Rahul with with UK’s former Foreign Secretary David Miliband attending International Affairs Conference.
Earlier, last week the BJP had tried to take on the Congress dubbing Mr. Gandhi’s visit as “forced” vacation during a busy election season.
“It appears that the feedback the leaders of grand alliance got from Bihar made them call Congress to send him on a forced vacation because his stay anywhere near Bihar is going to harm their electoral chances,” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had said earlier.
Meanwhile, a section of BJP leaders had even gone on to claim that Congress was “resorting to falsehood” as ‘Weekend with Charlie Rose’ was held between June 25 and July 4.
