Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a Group of Ministers meeting at his residence in New Delhi to assess the post-lockdown situation in the wake of COVID-19.
The Ministers discussed ways to ease out the lockdown after its scheduled end on April 14. They also evaluated the availability, procurement strategy for medical equipment and the preparedness of hospitals.
In a Twitter message, Rajnath Singh said the group appreciated the Union Cabinet’s decision to reduce salaries of all MPs for a year as well as the suspension of MPLADS funds for 2 years. https://t.co/N8vOy2SCtv
He said the amount saved through these decisions would strengthen India’s fight against Coronavirus.
Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, Piyush Goel, Prakash Javadekar, Ram Vilas Paswan were among those who took part in the meeting along with Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla.
The Ministers also shared their insights on helping people to stay motivated, determined and vigilant in the battle against COVID-19.
