Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, on Tuesday set a precedent by presiding over the proceedings of the Upper House for the entire day.

According to observers this is a first of its kind. Naidu was in the chair for the entire pre-lunch session till the House was adjourned at about 12.45 pm.

He was back in the chair in the afternoon session from 2 pm till about 6 pm when the house was adjourned for the day.

Setting another record of sorts, Chairman Naidu allowed 24 Zero Hour Submissions in the Rajya Sabha.
