Watch: RS Chairman’s Valedictory Remarks as 252nd Rajya Sabha Session Concludes

RS chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu made the following valedictory observations today as the 252nd Rajya Sabha session concluded and the Upper House adjourned sine die:

1.Monsoon session productivity has been over 100%

2.High productivity of last four sessions consistently is praiseworthy

3.Record high time of about 58% of total functional spent on bills during the session as against only 28% over the years

4. High time share for Bills justifies the purpose of this session during when Q Hour was dispensed with

5. Session has thrown up some concerns like developments surrounding notice for removal of Dy chairman

6.Its the collective responsibility to avert such unpleasant turn of events

7. Suspension of members is unpalatable but forced by turn of events

8.Protest is the right of opposition but the question is the manner of protest

9.Not taking up Bills during boycott by opposition may legitimise boycott as an effective instrument of blocking legislation

10. None should leave the floor of the House which is an effective platform for contestation of ideas

11.Disagrees with Shri Azad on diluting the role of LoP. Its unthinkable and he always reached out to LoP for his inputs
